Why it costs what it costs

The pattern is printed across the panels before the shoe is assembled rather than screened onto a finished blank, so the repeat runs unbroken over the upper. Each pair is made after you order it, which is why it takes about three weeks and why there is no warehouse of unsold stock priced into it.

The sole is black and the upper is warm blush, and the hard line where they meet is doing real work. It stops the pattern dead at the foxing instead of letting it fade down into the sole, so everything above that line reads as one continuous field and everything below it reads as ground. On a busy pattern, the edge is what makes it legible.
