Why it costs what it costs
The panels are printed flat and cut afterwards, so the repeat carries across the shoulder seam and around the sleeve instead of sitting in a rectangle on the back. A lined shell costs more to make than a single layer, and the lining is what keeps a printed jacket from handling like a windbreaker.
Ribbing is knit, not printed. The collar, the cuffs and the hem are three solid bands with no pattern in them at all, and the printed body sits inside that frame like a panel in a mount. It is why a bomber reads as a garment carrying a pattern, rather than a pattern cut into the shape of a garment.
