Why it costs what it costs

Printing the cloth first and cutting afterwards is what lets a size run reach from XS to 4XL without the artwork changing scale. It is slower and it wastes more fabric than printing a finished garment, and it is the only way to keep eight sizes honest to one pattern.

A shield is the same size on the XS as it is on the 4XL. That sounds obvious and it is not — a graphic applied to a finished garment gets scaled up with the garment, so the largest size ends up wearing a magnified version of the mark. Here the cloth is printed once and the sizes are cut out of it. The pattern stays put; only the body around it changes.
