Why it costs what it costs

The panels are printed before they are cut, so the gold crosses, the laurel and the Joshua 1:9 cartouches run over the shoulder seam and around the pocket rather than stopping at a printed patch. On a ground this dark the gold has to be laid down heavily enough to stay gold, which is more ink than a pale ground needs. It is made after you order it, so nothing here is priced to cover unsold stock.

The hood on this one is a single layer, not a lined one. That means the surface resting against the back of your neck is the reverse face of the same printed cloth — the pattern seen from behind, softened, none of it meant to be looked at. Nobody will ever see that side but you, and only if you go looking for it.
